How to Factory Reset your Android device properly?

You may be resetting your Android device because you are selling it to someone, maybe because it has started lagging a little bit, or you may just want to get rid of malware that has accumulated over the years.

Whatever the reason may be, there are times when we have to factory reset our data. But there are certain things that you need to perform while Factory Reset otherwise you may get into trouble.

Things to do before factory reset

Backup your data – It is very important to backup all your data before doing Factory Reset because as we know resetting your phone will wipe out all the data that is present in your phone.

Sync your Google Account – Information such as contacts, images, passwords, etc. should be synced with your Google Account before you start the reset process. This can be done by going into accounts through settings.

Charge your battery – Reseting takes a lot of battery, if you don’t have enough juice in your battery while resetting your device, it may switch off in the middle of the resetting process. This may eventually damage your phone.

Pull out sim cards – It is necessary to pull out your sim cards, otherwise, contacts on the sim card will get wiped out as well.

Pull out Memory card – You should pull out the memory card before resetting your phone due to the same reason for which you pulled out your sim cards.

Factory Reset procedure

1. Open up your settings.
2. Go to System > Advanced > Reset Options > Erase All Data (Factory Reset) > Reset Phone.
3. You may need to enter a password or PIN.
4. Finally, tap Erase Everything.

Things to do after factory reset

Login back into your Google Account – Enter the Google Account details which were there before the reset. It is very important to note that if forget this Account and are unable to recover this you may end up locking your device. So it is very important to remember your Google ID which was previously there on the smartphone.

Restore your data – Restore all your old data after logging in to your Google Account.

Install all your app from Google Play Store – Google Play store (if you log in through old Google ID) will have all the records about the apps which were previously installed on your device. You can install the whole list with a single click inside the Google Play Store.

Login back to your apps – We tend to forget this last step. We have apps on our phones but we don’t have our personalized info because we forget to log in to each and every app. Make sure you log in to every app so that you don’t have to waste your time when you need the app for some work.
