KGF Part 1 traces the story of Rowdy Rocky (Yash), a young orphan who grows up to become a gangster in Mumbai, takes us to the KGF (Kolar Gold Fields) in Karnataka.

KGF Story and Thangam Story :

The film, which portrays the story of a young orphan who grows up in mumbai and became a gangster, went Karnataka to takeover Kolar Gold Fields.

When we make small research on internet about the story of KGF we found that many peoples claim that the character of Rocky is based on rowdy Thangam, a criminal who was shot dead in police encounter in 1997.

In fact, Thangam’s mother Paulina had filed a petition for seeking a stay on the KGF: Chapter 2, because she felt the first part of film had portrayed her son ‘Thangam’ in a negative light.

After this, the court issued summons to the makers of the KGF film.

However, director of KGF movie Prashanth Neel denied in interviews that the movie was based on Thangam.

But the poster for Kolar Gold Fields movie though, claimed that the film was ‘based on a true story’. It is not clear which true story is based on if not Thangam’s.

According to reports from media and books from that time, Thangam was known to be second only to the sandalwood smuggler Veerappan and was known ‘Veerappan Junior’.

KGF Story Real or Fake:

KGF Part 1 directed by Prashanth Neel has similarities to Thangam’s story but otherwise seems to be a largely fictional. For example, in the movie Rocky is inspired by his mother, just as Pouli or Paulina a strong figure in Thangam’s life. In fact, some media reports called Thangam’s gang as ‘Pouli gang’ and they would go around robbing gold shops in and around the KGF (Kolar Gold Fields).

So friends, according to or review there are some similarities between Thangam’s life and KGF movie but otherwise it seems to be fictional.

So Does it mean KGF Story is not Real? Without solid evidence or proof, we cannot make such a claim here on our website. Therefore, I will let you decide.
